On Tuesday, 17th of Rajab 1431, corresponding to 29th of June, 2010, the Federal National Council has concluded its fourteenth session of the fourth regular term of the Legislative Chapter XIV by reciting Federal Decree No. 51 for the year 2010, which provided to adjourn the session at the end of the meeting . The Decree comes as a constitutional procedure in the context of the provisions of Article (79) of the Constitution, which stipulates that the calling for the Federal National Council to convene and adjourn shall be by a decree to be issued by the President of the Federal, with the consent of the Ministers Federal Council .
On this occasion, His Excellency Dr. Anwar Gargash, Minister of State for Federal National Council, praised what has been achieved during the regular term IV of the Legislative Chapter XIV, which is the first session after the constitutional amendment (1/2009), which extended the term of the session from six months to seven months.
HE stressed that the extension of the regular term had a positive impact in creating a broader space of time to discuss the largest possible number of issues, draft laws and other parliamentary mechanisms which benefit the nation and the citizens, within the great vigilance exerted by the command of the Federal National Council, and the supreme desire to activate its roles and enable it to become a supportive authority, guiding to the executive power.
His Excellency thanked the members of the Government and the President of the National Council and its members for their constructive role through the term.
The session has been attended by HE Humaid Mohamed Al Qutami, Minister of Education, His Excellency Abdul Rahman Mohammad Al Owais, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, His Excellency Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, Chairman of the General Authority for Civil Aviation, as well as the presence of Saif Al Suwaidi, the Director General of the Authority and a number of officials.
In this context, HE Tarek Lootah, Director General of the Ministry of State for Federal National Council, confirmed that the complementary work system undertaken by the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs has witnessed a fruitful and serious cooperation during the term of the last session, both from the secretariat of the Federal National Council or the Government, where the Ministry worked in coordination between the Federal National Council and the Government to display eight (8) drafts laws submitted by the Council of Ministers to the National Council, which the latter has discussed and made its comments, taking the constitutional procedures necessary for issuance. In addition to the work of the Ministry to coordinate the discussion of the Federal National Council number (11) of general topics; the policy of the Federal Electricity and Water Authority, the Policy of the Ministry of Education, the public policy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the policy of the Ministry of Justice, the policy of the Ministry of Finance, the policy of Emirates Identity Authority, the policy of the Ministry of Health, Protection and Development of Fisheries, Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, government's policy in media sector, and the policy of General Authority of Civil Aviation, where the Federal National Council has issued (114) recommendations that have been submitted to the Cabinet.
His Excellency has also expressed his pleasure regarding the fact this term has witnessed intense activity of the members of the Federal National Council through a number of questions posed by the members to Their Excellencies the Ministers, amounting to (61) questions, which they were all answered, wither by the Ministers attending the meetings of the National Council, or in writing.
