Attendance: By invitation only Focus: The workshop-cum-training programme aims to help the UAE law enforcement officials and representatives of non-governmental organisations to review international and domestic legal instruments and concepts, analyse the prospects of prosecuting trafficking cases in the UAE, underline the importance and challenges of identifying trafficked persons and traffickers, as well as methods which can be used to do so, and presentation of techniques that can be used by law enforcement actors to investigate the crime of trafficking. Attendance: By invitation only Focus: The NATO Parliamentary Assembly is the inter-parliamentary organisation of legislators from the member countries of the Atlantic Alliance and 13 associate members. Details: The GSM is the formal structure within the Assembly that has since 1996 provided a forum for parliamentarians from NATO countries and their counterparts in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to discuss common security and political concerns and enhance mutual understanding. The overall aim of this year's seminar is to examine the nature of the interaction of the Middle East region with the political/security, economic and cultural challenges it faces in today's globalised world. Based on presentations by a number of academic experts, government and inter-governmental organisation officials, as well as public and private sector executives, the discussions will seek to shed light, for NATO and MENA legislators, on the most pressing common challenges and on the optimal way in which these should be addressed |
