Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs signs a MoU with UAE University for spreading political awareness and the culture of political participation

The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs concluded a Memorandum of Understanding with the UAE University in the field of spreading political awareness, political participation and parliamentary life, in the context of expanding the horizons of cooperation and coordination with relevant state authorities, and the belief about the importance of concerted efforts by all bodies to contribute into the implementation of the State National Program by His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahayan to activate and develop the role of the Federal National Council.
The MoU was signed by HE Tariq Hilal Lootah, Director General of the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs and HE Dr. Abdullah Al khanbashi, Vice Chancellor of UAE University at the university premises in Al Ain, in the presence of senior officials from both sides.
The MoU included a number of items that are in the interest of both sides, the most important items were: implementing a series of activities and programs that would lead to achieve the highest degree of cooperation and coordination in all areas of enhancing political awareness and political participation in the country and to disseminate its culture.
The memorandum referred to a future coordination in establishing joint studies and researches, in addition to organizing conferences, events, forums, seminars, symposiums for discussion and training programs into the field of spreading a culture for political development.
It also provided a common ground to establish joint programs and projects, exchange expertise, experiences, information and any other areas that are consistent with the specializations and functions of both parties in order to achieve their mission objectives.
On the scope of signing the MoU, HE Tariq Hilal Lootah, said: the signing of this memorandum came within the line of enhancing the cooperation and coordination between relevant state authorities to contribute into establishing concepts of political awareness and a culture of political participation in the country, and under the Ministry’s keenness to achieve its vision of establishing political participation to support national gains, and to achieve its mission by fulfilling the vision of the leadership vision for enhancing political participation and developing parliamentary life through coordination among the government, the Federal National Council and citizens and through partnerships with government entities by utilizing the best human resources, financial and technical assistance available.  
HE emphasized his satisfaction on both parties’ convincement with the importance of concluding the memorandum for opening further avenues of cooperation and coordination between them, which seeks to achieve the common goals of both parties.
Lootah, added: the MoU aims to strengthen channels of communication for the benefits of both parties to design a general framework for the establishment of a fruitful bilateral cooperation between the ministry and university. Based on this cooperation, a permanent joint committee will be formed comprised of two members from each party to manage all planning, executing, supervising and evaluating any action plans which is agreed upon for implementation, in accordance with the mechanisms and procedures set by the above Committee.
