Abu Dhabi, April 01 , 2020 – The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs (MFNCA) held its ordinary coordination meeting with the General Secretariat of the Federal National Council (FNC) remotely via videoconference, exploring ways to continue working together and maintaining the system set up to ensure coordination between the government and the FNC.
Furthermore, the meeting debated several issues that help boost performance in the upcoming period, including requests to approve topics for discussion, coordination procedures for FNC sessions, and the Council’s oversight plan.
MFNCA Undersecretary His Excellency Tariq Hilal Lootah attended the meeting, along with H.E. Dr Omar Abdel Rahman Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of the FNC; H.E. Dr Saeed Mohammed Al Ghafli, MFNCA’s Assistant Undersecretary of FNC Affairs; H.E. Dr Jaber Mohammed Al Zaabi, Assistant Secretary-General for Legislation and Monitoring at the General Secretariat of the FNC, and several officials and specialists from both entities.
H.E. Lootah began the meeting by applauding the tremendous efforts undertaken by the teams in both the General Secretariat of the FNC and the MFNCA, who have been working as one team to offer innovative services that enhance integration and coordination between the executive and legislative authorities. “This, in turn, serves the general directives of the UAE’s wise leadership to join hands and work together to serve the country and discuss the issues that help enhance performance across all sectors,” H.E. said.
“Despite the many changes that have transformed our work environments in light of the current challenges, we made sure to hold our ordinary coordination meeting with the General Secretariat of the Federal National Council to explore future plans,” H.E. Lootah added. “This reaffirms that the FNC and the government will continue to coordinate regarding all topics up for debate at the Council.”
For his part, H.E. Dr Omar Abdel Rahman Al Nuaimi thanked H.E. the Minister of State for FNC Affairs and the Ministry’s team for their dedication to organising the coordination meeting, which discussed a host of priority issues related to the Council’s activities over the upcoming period. “This, in turn, allows the Council to exercise its constitutional responsibilities and contribute to the comprehensive development of the UAE, especially in light of the unlimited support the FNC receives from our wise leadership, in line with the Political Empowerment Programme announced in 2005 by UAE President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan,” H.E. said.
H.E. Dr Al Nuaimi asserted the Secretariat’s commitment to providing all means of support to the FNC to enable it to continue debating national issues and carrying out its legislative and oversight responsibilities. “In keeping with the Council’s aspirations, the oversight plan outlines the plan of action for the committees and facilitates communication between the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs and the government to schedule FNC sessions,” H.E. explained. “The desired result is to enhance the overall performance of the integrated parliamentary system, allowing citizens to remain informed of the Council’s discussions regarding various key sectors.”
The meeting was held via videoconference in line with the directives of the UAE Government, and in keeping with the precautionary measures implemented to ensure the health and safety of all members of the community. It also reflects the MFNCA’s commitment to continue holding periodic coordination meetings as it strives to accomplish its strategic objectives.
