The Ministry of State for Federal National Council (FNC) Affairs has organised the third lecture in a series that seeks to enhance direct communication with society, introduce them to the UAE’s parliamentary system, and promote political participation.
Organised in collaboration with the Majalis Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, the lecture took place in the Majlis of Mohammed Salem Kardous Al Ameri, and was presented by Dr Mansour Al Baloushi, Professor of International Law. The session showcased the UAE’s parliamentary achievements, underlining the immense importance of the political empowerment programme, launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, which was announced in 2005 on the 34th anniversary of the establishment of the UAE. The programme seeks greater participation by all segments of the community in the decision-making process and the development and advancement of society.
With its standout parliamentary process, the UAE has set a global example in terms of facilitating coordination and integration between the legislative and executive branches of government, Dr Al Baloushi noted, stressing the importance of working to create a politically informed generation, promoting political participation among young people who constitute the majority of society, and familiarising them with the political empowerment programme and the FNC’s key role in transforming their needs and ideas into programmes and action plans.
“We applaud the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs for its role in launching innovative initiatives to establish direct communication with all members of the community, engaging them in the political process,” Al Baloushi added. “This also deepens their knowledge of the political empowerment programme of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and the UAE’s parliamentary process, which is based on a gradual and balanced approach that takes into account the singular traits of UAE society.”
“Active participation from all segments of society in the last three elections reflects a great awareness in UAE society of the issues that will lead to progress and prosperity. It also reaffirms public faith and confidence in the role of the Federal National Council in meeting the needs and requirements of citizens,” he concluded.
The initiative, which hosts experts and specialists in its various lectures, focuses on introducing innovative mechanisms to enhance political awareness and communication with all segments of society. It also contributes to the Ministry’s vision and strategic objectives to build long-term national partnerships and promote political participation in the society.
