As part of its concerted efforts to strengthen the partnership between the government and the Federal National Council (FNC), the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs (MFNCA) held its regular coordination meeting with the FNC’s General Secretariat. Among the issues discussed at the event were how to best coordinate joint efforts between the Ministry and the Council to achieve the aspirations and ambitions of UAE citizens.
Participating at the meeting were H.E. Ahmed Shabib Al Dhaheri, FNC Secretary-General and H.E. Dr. Saeed Mohammed Al Ghufli, Assistant Undersecretary for FNC Affairs at the MFNCA. Also in attendance were several senior officials, department managers and team leaders from both sides.
Issues discussed at the meeting included preparations for the fourth ordinary session for FNC, which will be held in October, with other deliberations centered on the approval of regulatory rules relating to communication with ministries and entities around the drafting of laws. Coordination mechanisms for the hosting of special joint events on the occasion of the Year of Zayed were also discussed, as were the development of frameworks through which knowledge and education could be effectively disseminated. At the close of the meeting, agreements were formed that would see the Ministry and Council put in place task forces to implement recommendations.
“This meeting comes within the framework of a series of communication forums held between the Council and the Ministry, which are aimed at strengthening cooperation, partnership and dialogue between the state’s various ministries and institutions, as part of the Council’s exercise of its constitutional powers. The meetings enable the Council members to discuss issues of national concern and to enhance the participation of citizens in the decision-making process. The Council strives to be in line with all the latest developments and requirements of this phase and works hand-in-hand with the government to achieve the vision of the leadership and meet the aspirations of the country’s citizens,” said H.E. Ahmed Shabib, FNC Secretary-General.
H.E. Al Dhaheri emphasised that the FNC has, for more than four decades, been an instrumental contributor to national discussions, a keen developer of legislation and an enthusiastic adopter of recommendations. He reiterated that during the fourth ordinary session of the 16th legislative chapter, the Council would dedicate itself to securing the nation’s orientations, plans and forward-looking strategies to achieve the UAE vision in all sectors.
“This meeting comes within the preparations for the fourth ordinary session of the Federal National Council and reflects our commitment to work and cooperate fully with the General Secretariat of the Council. Among the resolutions from the meeting were to effectively manage the coordination process, to better facilitate procedures, to provide support to the Council and its committees, to serve the directives of the government of the UAE, and to respond to the requirements of the nation’s citizens to ensure their happiness and wellbeing,” said H.E. Dr. Said Mohammed Al Ghufli.
H.E. Al Ghufli stressed the importance of periodic meetings with the FNC’s General Secretariat and paid tribute to the organisation as the strategic partner that serves the objectives of the MFNCA. He praised the efforts of the Secretariat to strengthen the relationship between the government and FNC to achieve full coordination, effective cooperation and harmonious integration between the executive and legislative branches of the UAE government to best serve the interests of the homeland and its citizens.
