The government’s responsiveness to the Federal National Council’s (FNC) proposals is a clear indication that the parliamentary experience in the UAE is maturing, said Her Excellency Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of State for FNC Affairs, following the Council’s ninth session on March 14, 2017.
The Council discussed reports from international organisations about the UAE and the success of the country’s plans and programs in maintaining its advanced ranking as measured against global standards and indices. Discussions also explored the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in securing the UAE’s interests in the region and the world, using the findings of these reports as well as the Tamkeen program, launched by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, in 2005 to mark the country’s 34th National Day.
The continuous and constructive collaboration between the executive and legislative authorities is instrumental to the sustainable development and advancement of the UAE and its people, H.E. Al Kaabi noted, adding that this cooperation obeys clear directives from Their Highnesses Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
The Minister of State for FNC Affairs extended her gratitude to H.E. Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Cabinet Member, Minister of State for International Cooperation, and Chairperson of the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority, for her complete and continuous collaboration with the FNC – most notably on issues of parliamentary diplomacy.
Reviewing and discussing international reports and indices is critical for the wellbeing of our society and for further promoting the good image and reputation of the UAE, H.E. Al Kaabi concluding, noting that members of the UAE Cabinet and the Federal National Council share equal responsibility in that regard.
