Dr Anwar Gargash: We are keen to activate the role of FNC in the community

On the occasion of the 41st anniversary of establishing the Federal National Council, H.E Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash. Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, said the FNC was one of the constitutional authorities contributing to the development of parliamentary life in the country and promoting political participation in the decision-making process.

H.E. described the Empowerment Programme of President H.H Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan as an ongoing process that has helped raise awareness on political participation among all the sections of the community.

Stating that the Ministry was keen to activate the role of the FNC across the community, H.E Gargash noted the council, since its inception in 1972, has been working to expand the political participation base, helping achieve effective overall sustainable development through its legislative, supervisory and political role. It has played an active role in discussing citizens’ issues and their needs as well as enhancing investment in human resources development and infrastructure.

In this context, H.E said the FNC has taken up national issues during various parliamentary events and launched objective initiatives aimed at supporting the GCC, Arab and international parliamentary processes, as a result of the efforts of the wise leadership and the citizens’ keenness to participate in the march towards development.

H.E affirmed the FNC would continue to work on enhancing awareness on political participation in line with the vision of the country’s leadership.
