H.E. Al Owais: Parliamentary Work Is Key for the UAE’s Aspirations for Global Leadership and an Engine Driving the Country’s Development

Abu Dhabi, March 17, 2021 – His Excellency Abdul Rahman bin Mohammad Al Owais, Minister of Health and Prevention and Minister of State for Federal National Council (FNC) Affairs, applauded all teams for their hard work and collaboration, where the complimentary roles of the government and the FNC led to programmes and action plans to meet citizens’ aspirations and develop all sectors.

H.E. Al Owais thanked Lieutenant General H.H. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, for his commitment to attending FNC sessions. H.H. attended the eighth session of 2nd Cycle of Ordinary Sessions of the 17th Legislative Chapter to discuss the Ministry’s civil defence policy, as well as a draft federal law to regulate cemeteries and burial procedures. H.H. the Minister of Interior answered FNC members’ questions transparently, reaffirming the leadership’s dedication to providing solutions for enhancing quality of life for all community members.

Furthermore, H.E. Al Owais thanked FNC Speaker H.E. Saqr Ghobash and members of the Council for their efforts. “Their Excellencies the Ministers are always keen to attend the sessions of the Federal National Council and answer members’ questions,” H.E. Al Owais asserted. “This is an affirmation of the outstanding level that parliamentary practices in the UAE have achieved, where efforts converge to resolve all issues facing members of the community and to ensure the UAE’s development continues to move forward.”

“The parliamentary sector in the UAE has grown into a global role model, leveraging the strong partnership between the government and the FNC and going in parallel with the development the UAE is witnessing across all fields,” H.E. Al Owais asserted. “The sector has become the engine driving the UAE’s efforts to fulfil its aspirations for global leadership and excellence over the past 50 years.”

H.E. Al Owais underlined the great role the FNC members and committees play in identifying citizens’ needs and bringing them to the table to be discussed transparently and objectively with government representatives, especially in light of the current circumstances that call for increased cooperation from all entities to support the UAE’s efforts at development and prosperity.

“The Federal National Council has been – and remains – indispensable for the advancement of all sectors in the UAE ever since our country’s foundation by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan,” H.E. added. “The Council played a great role in drafting legislation and issuing decisions that have enabled the UAE to achieve the global success it has enjoyed over the course of the past 50 years. Moreover, the FNC spearheaded the efforts that allowed the UAE to assume an advanced global status in terms of parliamentary diplomacy.”

His Excellency applauded the efforts undertaken by the team at the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs and the role they play in implementing the highest standards in order to enhance coordination and follow-up processes. This, in turn, makes the collaboration between the Council and the government more efficient and effective, and enhances parliamentary performance in the UAE.
