An awareness campaign called ‘Our Family Our Responsibility’ was launched today (Sunday – May 19th) in the ‘Al Rashidiya Majles’ in Dubai as part of the world Islamic culture project, ‘My Religion is My Identity’.
The event, organized by Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai in collaboration with the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs and Community Development Authority in Dubai, aimed to enhance awareness within the community about family’s role in providing proper guidance and education to young people.
“The Ministry of FNCA is participating in this event as part of its efforts to promote parliamentary culture among the community members, especially children, by raising political awareness based on moral values and Arabic culture to help them develop into positive personalities,” said H.E Tariq Hilal Lootah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs.
H.E Lootah said family is important to children’s education terms of moral values, duties and rights as well as respect for authorities and active participation in decision making process. The family plays a key role in creating a political culture across generations by inculcating loyalty for the political system and respect for the local laws, H.E said.
Dr. Omar Mohammed Al Khateeb, Executive Director of Islamic Affairs, in Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai said the awareness campaign was held on the occasion of World Family Day as part of the world Islamic culture project, ‘My Religion is My Identity’.
“The family is an influential element in the upbringing of the members of a society and imparting in them a comprehensive knowledge about their responsibilities. Through its active role and interaction in the community, the family helps to raise the standards of a society,” Dr. Omar added.
Papers of Awareness Session
The awareness campaign included four papers. The first of these entitled ‘The importance of family education in Islam’, presented by Dr. Mohamed Kubaisi, Grand Mufti in Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai, highlighted the effective role of family in the upbringing of younger generation on Islamic principles and values as an important model in the development of the society.
The second paper, presented by H.E. Dr. Saeed Mohammad Al Ghafli, Assistant Undersecretary for Federal National Council Affairs in the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs, explained the role of the Ministry of FNCA in enhancing the political participation culture with family as one of the its main pillars.
The third one, presented by Ahmed Al Muhairi, Director of Sector Programmes and Social Services in Community Development Authority in Dubai, focused on ‘Integrated system to raise family awareness’. The fourth paper was by Dr. Huda Al Suwaidi, Director of Family Development in the Community Development Authority, which highlighted the importance of community outreach programmes in developing the family culture.
