Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs Continues with Campaign to Drive Al Ain Citizens to Vote in 4th Election Cycle

19 July 2019

The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs (MFNCA) organised a lecture titled ‘Federal National Council Elections 2019’ at Majlis Mohammed Ahmed Al Mahmoud Al Balooshi in Al Tawia, Al Ain, in collaboration with the Majalis Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court.

The lecture is part of the MFNCA’s ongoing efforts to promote a culture of political participation and incentivise citizens to play an active role in the upcoming FNC elections. Presented by International Law Expert Dr Mansoor Al Balooshi, the lecture highlighted the importance of participation in supporting the electoral process, establishing the ‘Shura’ approach, maintaining the UAE’s momentum of achievements, and promoting the Emirates’ experience as a parliamentary model that resonates with the government’s commitment to ensuring sustainable development and building a better future to meet the aspirations of its citizens.

Dr Al Balooshi noted that the Political Empowerment Programme, launched by UAE President H.H. Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has set solid foundations for the UAE’s gradual development, at a pace that suits the specificities of Emirati society and helps protect national accomplishments.

“Taking part in the FNC elections embodies the ‘Shura’ concept that the UAE has long embraced,” he said. “The growing number of voters we have seen in each electoral cycle reflects the Emirati people’s awareness of the Federal National Council’s important role in meeting their aspirations and discussing the issues that matter most to them.”

“We are on the verge of another electoral milestone on the UAE’s journey of political development,” Dr Al Balooshi added. “This is an opportunity for us to express our loyalty to the UAE and our commitment to contributing to the country’s success, by actively supporting the elections, which, in turn, empowers the FNC to fulfil its role and support the government in shaping a better future for current and coming generations.”

The audience applauded the initiative for raising their awareness about the Political Empowerment Programme launched by H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, introducing them to the FNC’s role, and engaging them in the decision-making process.

This lecture is one of a series of sessions organised in Abu Dhabi and featuring a group of experts to promote the culture of political participation, all while introducing innovative procedures that enhance awareness and communication with all segments of the community, and help achieve the MFNCA’s vision and strategic objectives to build long-term strategic national partnerships.
