H.E. Tariq Hilal Lootah: UAE’s exceptional parliamentary framework continues to elevate regional and international benchmarks

The International Day of Parliamentarism provides an ideal opportunity to highlight and reflect upon the nation’s parliamentary achievements since the establishment of the Federal National Council (FNC). This portrays a remarkable journey, which further reaffirms the wise leadership’s vision to bolster political engagement by positioning citizens as key enablers of national development. The UAE’s parliamentary framework facilitates the legislative and oversight roles of the FNC, firmly rooted in the national culture of consultation, dialogue and joint pursuit of solutions.

Moreover, based on the principles of the Political Empowerment Program launched in 2005 by the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, aimed at fostering highly active and contributive citizens, while enhancing the FNC’s role as a supportive, advisory, and guiding authority assisting the government, the Ministry continues to work on strengthening integration and cooperation between the government and the FNC. This includes promoting innovation-driven practices rooted in flexibility, proactiveness, and readiness. Such concerted efforts, while enhancing public policies, further strengthen the UAE’s parliamentary framework, positioning it as an ideal model both regionally and internationally.
