Abu Dhabi, UAE – 31 August 2022 – The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs (MFNCA) is set to organise a panel discussion titled ‘Strengthening the Culture of Political Participation Among Women’ in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Federal National Council (FNC) and the General Women’s Union at Zayed Hall in the FNC’s Abu Dhabi headquarters on Monday, 5 September 2022.
The session is in line with the MFNCA’s strategy and its ongoing series of initiatives designed to promote a culture of political participation among UAE citizens – and women, in particular – as well as to highlight the nature of parliamentary life in the UAE and its achievements over the past 50 years.
Speakers at the session include Their Excellencies members of the FNC Social Affairs, Labour, Population and Human Resources Committee, namely, Committee Chairman Naama Abdul Rahman Al Mansoori, and Dr. Hawa Saeed Al Mansoori, Rapporteur of the Committee, along with Committee members Aisha Muhammad Al Mulla, Dr. Moza Muhammad Al Amri, Maryam Majid bin Thaniah, Mohammad Issa Al-Kashf, and Humaid Ali Al Abbar Al Shamsi, in addition to Ahlam Al Lamki, Head of the Research and Development Department at the General Women’s Union.
The session will present the Political Empowerment Programme and highlight the role and achievements of the FNC Social Affairs, Labour, Population and Human Resources Committee. It will also shed light on the culture of political participation among Emirati women, and the role of the General Women’s Union in the political empowerment of women to be a key partner in the UAE’s development and prosperity, and a partner in achieving the directives of our wise leadership, meeting the UAE’s strategic visions and objectives, and safeguarding national achievements and progress.
Their Excellencies the Committee members will also discuss the Committee’s legislative and supervisory role and accomplishments during the current Legislative Chapter.
For her part, Ms. Ahlam Al Lamki will also talk about the culture of political participation, underlining the role that the General Women’s Union has played in the political empowerment of Emirati women since the first FNC elections in 2006, given their role in advancing the UAE’s comprehensive development in the service of the country and its citizens. This, in turn, is in line with the directives and vision of the UAE’s wise leadership in the lead-up to the UAE Centennial.
The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs is committed to launching impactful initiatives targeting all segments of the community to promote a culture of political participation among UAE citizens, and familiarise them with the nature of parliamentary life in the country.
