23 February 2022

The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs (MFNCA) showcased its flagship initiatives designed to raise political awareness and introduce visitors to Expo 2020 Dubai to parliamentary life and the Federal National Council (FNC) elections in the UAE.

The Ministry is taking part in UAE Innovation Month activities, held under the theme ‘UAE Innovates 2022’, as part of its efforts to promote a culture of political participation and raise political awareness among members of the community.

Taking place at the ‘Fazaa’ Pavilion at Expo, the exhibition included the Ministry’s innovations where advanced technologies were used to promote political awareness and highlight the accomplishments the UAE has made in parliamentary work.

The MFNCA showcased the Electronic Voting System – an advanced and innovative smart system that radically transformed parliamentary life in the UAE and that has been in use since the 2006 FNC elections. The system allows for counting votes accurately and transparently, in addition to expediting the electoral process and providing figures and data in detail.

As part of the Electoral Process Journey initiative, visitors can live the election experience in all of it stages in under five minutes through a smart interactive screen. The objective is to raise the public’s awareness about the importance of participating in elections, as well as the basics, procedures, and stages of the electoral process.

The Ministry of State for FNC Affairs showcased its virtual reality ‘You in the FNC’ initiative, which helps enhance users’ knowledge of the Council, allowing them to explore how FNC sessions work, how topics are discussed, and how Council members and government representatives interact when discussing the topic at hand.

The MFNCA also displayed the Electoral Centres Map initiative – an interactive map of the UAE that allows participants to locate all electoral centres and view statistics about each of them, including voter turnout for FNC elections.

The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs had announced its agenda for Innovation Month, which includes activities and events from awareness workshops and expert-led training courses to competitions that aim to encourage innovation and transform it into a culture and a way of life.
