His Excellency Dr. Anwar Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, praised the significant role of the government in answering the queries of the FNC members in a transparent manner, and responding to the proposals that came up during the recent intensive sessions.

“The keenness of the ministers and government representatives to attend these sessions highlights the great understanding that has evolved about the role played by the FNC in successfully taking the issues and concerns of the citizens to the respective government bodies. It also reflects the commitment of the government to implement the recommendations of the Council and turn them into realities,” said HE. Gargash.

“The constructive discussions that take place under the dome of the Council signify the success of the empowerment programme launched in 2005 by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, which aims to expand the levels of political participation among various segments of the society,” added HE Gargash.

His Excellency asserted that the deep understanding of members and ministers for dialogue and transparency embody the highest degree of parliamentary action, which is reflective of the significant progress achieved in activating the political process according to the plans of the government and the Council.

“In the last session that was devoted to discussions on the National Media Council policies, His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Media Council, answered queries which addressed a range of issues that affect the performance of the media in the country and how it relates to the UAE national identity,” HH Gargash said.

“HH Sheikh Abdullah agreed to look into members’ proposals that called for increased control on media content and implement changes in media policies, highlighting the interest of the leadership in adopting proposals that aim to achieve the best interests of the UAE’s citizens,” said HE Gargash.

HE Gargash stressed that the political leadership is keen to strengthen the cooperation between the executive and legislature in order to achieve the welfare of the people of the UAE.
