27 September 2018

The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs (MFNCA) organised a visit to the Consultative Council of Sharjah as part of its efforts to enhance institutional performance and establish communication and cooperation between government entities with similar tasks and operations.

Headed by His Excellency Tariq Hilal Lootah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of State for FNC Affairs, the delegation consisted of H.E. Dr Saeed Al Ghafli, the Ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for FNC Affairs, along with a number of senior officials, heads of departments, and staff members from the Ministry.

The visit aims to establish communication between institutions across the UAE that converge in the nature of their work and the tasks they carry out, promote cooperation among them, and find common ground between the various bodies. The visit also provides an opportunity to compare between the functions carried out by the MFNCA and those conducted by the departments of the Consultative Council in Sharjah – especially with regards to coordination between the Federal National Council and the UAE Government.

Furthermore, the visit allowed the Ministry’s delegation to explore how the Consultative Council works and how its members reach out to the citizens of the emirate to determine their demands and aspirations and bring them to the Council to be discussed. The delegates were also introduced to the existing operations in the Council, so they can draw from them to develop the Ministry’s operations, as well as the communication channels set by the Council to communicate with the community, identify challenges and issues and propose suitable solutions for them.

H.E. Tariq Lootah said: “Since its establishment, the Consultative Council of Sharjah successfully moved towards leadership and excellence in its work, providing an example to be followed to ensure a corporate environment conducive of excellence. The Council established a distinct work system that echoes the directives of the UAE leadership, and helps strengthen parliamentary life in the UAE.”

“The Council is a pioneering institution that has developed its own specific mechanisms to exercise parliamentary work, communicate with UAE citizens and address their issues,” H.E. Lootah noted, adding: “Today’s visit is part of our efforts to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise within the government, discover best practices, and improve operations, as per the strategic objectives of the Ministry of State for FNC Affairs, which seek to maintain the drive towards excellence and innovation in performance.”

His Excellency Ahmed Saeed Al Jarwan, Secretary General of the Consultative Council of Sharjah, asserted the Council’s commitment to cooperating with the Ministry of Federal National Council Affairs and exchanging technical expertise across all sectors. “The Council’s Secretariat General is dedicated to implementing the Council’s strategy, supporting its members in all legislative and monitoring matters, and maintaining a professional network where all entities and departments band together, allowing Council members to remain aware of every detail of the cases in front of them, and achieve excellence in government performance according to international best practices,” H.E. Al Jarwan said.

The visiting delegation was introduced to the latest technologies and the best approaches to embed innovation into the workplace, which supports the development of human capital and ensures the highest levels of quality and excellence in government work.

The visit is as part of a series organised by the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs to several institutions and government entities in an effort to enhance cooperation and facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise between all entities to the benefit of the country and its citizens.
