The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs organized an awareness lecture in Higher Colleges of Technology Dubai under the title “Political participation culture”, aimed at promoting political awareness among the youth, who constitute the most important segment in the society.
“The Ministry is keen to enhance political participation culture among university students and develop their knowledge about the country’s political empowerment programme in order to enable them to participate effectively in the overall development of the UAE,” His Excellency Tariq Hilal Lootah, Undersecretary of the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs, said.
His Excellency Tariq Hilal Lootah stressed the importance of continuous work with the bodies concerned to educate young generations, describing the effort as a vital mission to enable the youth to perform their duties towards the UAE with the highest level of responsibility, and participate effectively in the national decision-making process.
Delivering the lecture, H.E. Dr. Saeed Mohammed Al Ghafli, Assistant Undersecretary for Federal National Council Affairs in the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs, pointed out that political participation is an important method to convey the expectations and aspirations of the citizens to the government, and enhance their awareness about the diverse issues and the best means to tackle them.
“Political participation makes it possible for citizens to convey useful ideas to the government, thereby supporting officials to adopt development plans and policies,” Dr. Saeed Al Ghafli said. “Political participation varies from one community to another as a result of social development and the future outlook of the community, and based on the constructive cooperation between citizens and the government,” Dr. Al Ghafli added.
The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs is working on implementing the initiatives to promote a culture of political participation among all segments of the society through various activities such as lectures, workshops, awareness bulletins, ‘Political Participation’ magazine, as well as electronic initiatives like the electronic empowerment bulletins and interactive website.
