Statement by His Excellency Sami Mohammed bin Adi, Assistant Undersecretary for Support Services Sector at the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs, on the Occasion of Zayed Humanitarian

07 March 2026

Zayed Humanitarian Day, observed annually on the 19th of Ramadan, reminds us of the noble values established by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It is an opportunity to reflect on the lasting impact of embracing the spirit of the common good and the principles of humanitarian giving. The legacy of ‘Zayed of Goodness’ is not simply a history to commemorate, but a living approach that we uphold through our daily initiatives and actions in support of those in need, wherever they may be. Zayed Humanitarian Day is not just an annual occasion, but also a sincere call to transform compassion and brotherhood into meaningful action, helping to alleviate the suffering of others and making humanitarian work a shared responsibility and an enduring practice.

Coinciding with the ‘Year of Family,’ this occasion highlights the essential role of the family in promoting community awareness of the importance of humanitarian work and strengthening values of solidarity, cooperation and giving. Goodness begins within the family and its positive impact extends throughout society.

The principles of humanitarian work have become a sustainable culture of giving, reflected in the policies of the United Arab Emirates, supporting the continued humanitarian efforts of the country’s leadership and its prominent role on the international stage
