Al Ain’s Majlis Al Khubaisi Hosts Lecture on Political Participation and FNC Elections in Collaboration with Ministry of State for FNC Affairs

09 March 2019

The Majalis Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court organised a lecture on Political Participation and the Federal National Council (FNC) Elections in collaboration with the Ministry of State for FNC Affairs (MFNCA) at Majlis Al Khubaisi in Al Ain.

Law and International Relations Expert Dr Ahmed Al Mansouri addressed the audience at the lecture, speaking of the UAE’s culture of political participation, the rapid developments in the country’s parliamentary life, and the status that citizens occupy at the heart of the decision-making process. With prominent stakeholders and experts attending the session, along with people from all segments of the UAE community, Dr Al Mansouri highlighted the great advances that the political development process in the country is witnessing, particularly with the success of the past three election cycles.

“Raising political awareness among all segments of the community is a foundational pillar in promoting loyalty and patriotism in the UAE community, safeguarding the country’s accomplishments, and driving forward its comprehensive and sustainable development,” Dr Al Mansouri explained. “The Federal National Council has become a role model for partnership and synergy among institutions, and an example to be emulated in empowering citizens to voice their ambitions. Maintaining that momentum calls for active and effective participation from members of the Emirati community in the electoral process.”

The expert speaker went on to applaud the Ministry of State for FNC Affairs for its continuous efforts to promote political participation among members of the community by reaching out and interacting with them, and incentivising them to play their part in the elections process.

For their part, the audience underlined the importance of the initiative to hold these lectures in familiarising the general public with the Political Empowerment Programme, launched by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and improving their knowledge of the political process and the importance of playing their part in it. Participating in the process empowers the Federal National Council in its mandate to address the issues facing the country and its citizens, and helps craft a unique parliamentary experience for the UAE – one that caters to the singularities of Emirati society.

The lecture is part of a series of activities organised by the Ministry of State for FNC Affairs to promote political awareness and enhance communication with all segments of society. It serves to achieve the Ministry’s strategic objectives to build long-term national partnerships.
