Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs Holds Coordination Meeting with the FNC’s General Secretariat

Dubai, 8 April, 2019 – The Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs (MFNCA) has held a coordination meeting with the FNC’s General Secretariat at the Ministry’s Dubai headquarters to explore future plans to promote political participation among members of the community.

The MFNCA’s Undersecretary His Excellency Tariq Hilal Lootah attended the meeting, along with the FNC’s Secretary-General H.E. Ahmed Shabib Al Dhaheri, and H.E. Dr Saeed Mohammed Al-Ghafli, Assistant Undersecretary for Federal National Council Affairs at the MFNCA, in addition to several high-ranking officials and department leaders from both entities.

H.E. Tariq Lootah began by thanking the FNC’s General Secretariat and H.E. Ahmed Al Dhaheri for their efforts during the current legislative cycle, applauding their dedication to promoting the Council as an entity that serves the country and its citizens, as well as their commitment to collaborating with the cabinet. H.E. Lootah lauded the secretariat’s role in developing more effective communication channels that enhance coordination and integration with the government.

“This meeting is a continuation of the efforts and the close cooperation between the Ministry of State for FNC Affairs and the Federal National Council,” H.E. Lootah said. “It serves to strengthen partnership and communication between the Council and the cabinet, all while achieving the Ministry’s objectives to foster cooperation between the legislative and executive authorities, and promote political participation in the community to include everyone in the decision-making process and ensure quality of life and prosperity for future generations.”

For his part, FNC Secretary-General H.E. Ahmed Shabib Al Dhaheri underlined the importance of consistent, periodic meetings and continuous coordination between the Federal National Council and the Ministry of State for FNC Affairs, which enable the Council to better explore and discuss issues, accomplish the vision of the leadership, meet people’s aspirations, and play a significant role in the UAE’s sustainable development.

“As per the parliamentary strategy with its goal of enhancing communication and social partnerships, the Council is committed to communicating with citizens and introducing them to the FNC’s achievements in legislation, oversight, and parliamentary diplomacy,” H.E. Al Dhaheri added.

The meeting began with attendees reviewing the minutes of the third coordination meeting and following up with the implementation of its recommendations and resolutions. It also discussed the supervision plan for the fourth session of the 16th legislative chapter, and discussed coordinating visits to FNC sessions for federal and local entities.

Furthermore, the meeting explored ways to raise awareness of the importance of the Federal National Council and its role in serving the interests of the country and its citizens, motivating them to participate in decision-making and contribute to the UAE’s sustainable development. Attendees discussed innovative ideas that support the Ministry’s efforts to promote political participation among all segments of society, and explored the Political Empowerment Programme of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

The meeting is part of the Ministry of State for Federal National Council Affairs’ commitment to holding periodic meetings that explore new ways to enhance communication and cooperation with various parties, which, in turn, streamlines procedures, organises the coordination processes, and helps achieve the Ministry’s strategic objectives.
