H.E Abdulrahman Bin Mohamed Al Owais

Cabinet Member and Minister of Health and Prevention, Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs


H.E. Abdul Rahman Al Owais joined the federal Government in 2006 as the Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development. In addition, he has held the position of Acting Minister of Health from 2011 until 2013 when he was appointed as Minister of Health. In February 2016, the name of the Ministry of Health was changed to Ministry of Health and Prevention, increasing the responsibilities of the ministry to focus on prevention and protection of society from diseases in addition to regulating the health sector.  He has been also appointed as Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs following the Cabinet reshuffle of October 2017.

Chairman of the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, he is a Board Member of Dubai Healthcare City, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum International Photography Award, Member of the Board of Trustees for the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Awards for Medical Sciences, Member of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Foundation for Philanthropy and a Member of the Board of Trustees of Sultan Bin Ali Al Owais Cultural Foundation since 1992. He is also the 1st Vice President of the UAE National Olympic Committee.

H.E.  Dr Abdul Rahman Al Owais holds a BA Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Information Systems from United Arab Emirates University in 1989.
